Fundación Economía y Desarrollo, Inc. emerged in 1987 as an initiative of a large group of businessmen, economists and intellectuals aware of the need in the Dominican Republic to deepen the knowledge and broaden the dissemination of economic policies that could contribute to the growth and development of the Dominican economy.

As a research and dissemination organization, the main objective of the Foundation was established from the beginning to foster and promote the knowledge of economics among the general population, especially the fundamental aspects of the Dominican economy. The Foundation has always been committed to the dissemination of the principles, mechanisms and advantages of the social market economy as a system for the achievement of the integral development of the Dominican Nation.
