Fundación Economia y Desarrollo, Inc. (Fundación) is a research center – a think tank – founded in 1987. Its purpose is the promotion of market economy reforms through research, analysis, policy proposals and economic education in the Dominican Republic.
The Fundación was incorporated through the Executive Decree No. 170-88 of April 7, 1988, under the Law No. 520 of July 26, 1920, and is subject to the rules and regulations of Law No. 122-05 of April 15, 2004.
The Fundación Economía y Desarrollo, Inc. emerged in 1987 as an initiative of a group of businessmen, economists and intellectuals that were aware of an existing need in the Dominican Republic of greater knowledge regarding the policies that could contribute the most to our economic growth and development. As an organization dedicated to research and the dissemination of ideas, its main objective has always been to foster and promote knowledge among the general population, particularly about the fundamental aspects of the Dominican economy. The Fundación has always been committed to disseminating the principles, mechanisms and advantages of a social market economy, as a system to achieve integral economic development.
